Food thieves developing their artistic expressions

Thursday, November 2, 2017

On the Lindholm pier in Gothenburg sits Mindbender Animation Studio, the international prize-winner in the field of animation. In addition to commercial films and assignments for major companies, they are working on the short film Food Thief.

With the Food Thief film project, they want to develop their artistic expression, create a short film that can be distributed internationally, and establish new contacts. The film is close to becoming a finished product.

“By the end of the year, we expect to be able to show the first completed clip,” says Mindbender’s Michael Bengtsson.

Viewers can explore the environments

The company has been building up expertise in the field of animation since 2006, and has collaborated with major international players. With the short film Food Thief, they want to strengthen their competence and their network, but also to develop additional ways for the viewer to interact with the story and its environments.

“We will be publishing the environments online so that people can explore them interactively, with the same high level of quality as in the film itself,” Mr. Bengtsson tells us.

The film will also have a singular expression through approaches such as the interaction between rendered and physical objects.

“In our work on the film, we have 3D scanned extremely small environments to obtain an interesting feeling.”

Mindbender Animation Studio AB is working in a growing field with significant potential for development in Gothenburg. The project has therefore been granted development aid from Lindholmen Science Park.
