Writers in west Sweden join together in Manusfabriken

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

At the West Sweden Film Days today, the writers’ movement Manusfabriken (“script factory”) was launched, bringing together the region’s foremost scriptwriters and writing directors. The aim is to highlight the writers in the region and facilitate cooperation.

The initiative came from Emiliano Goessens, director (30 grader i februari, Blå ögon, Molanders, etc), and Frida Hallberg, producer, who both work extensively with script production. Manusfabriken has been made possible as a result of support from Gothenburg Department of Culture and Lindholmen Science Park, which is also contributing resources in the form of project management and administration.

“Manusfabriken is a movement built on feedback from writer to writer. We believe that a script is best when developed together with other writers, regardless of which phase of writing you are in. Manusfabriken offers a model with the financial requirements to achieve this. At the same time, Manusfabriken is a way to capitalize on the enormous energy and skills that exist in the area of scriptwriting in the region and to further develop it. We want to make Gothenburg a distinct center for scriptwriting,” say initiators Emiliano Goessens and Frida Hallberg.

“In the evaluation of Lindholmen’s project financing that was conducted in the spring, the most obvious trend was that everyone in the industry mentioned a shortage of experienced scriptwriters. Manusfabriken is a way to remedy this, by script development from writer to writer, skills development and a shared presentation for external parties via the website,” says Marit Kapla, project manager at Lindholmen Science Park.

Among Manusfabriken’s writers/writing directors are:
Åsa Lantz (Det mest förbjudna, Selma, Solisterna), Niclas Ekström (30 grader i februari, Molanders, Starke man), Lovisa Löwhagen (Hashtag, Andra avenyn, Starke man), Morgan Jensen (Tjockare än vatten, Medicinmannen, Hassel), Petra Revenue (Blå ögon, Isdraken, Wallander), Oskar Söderlund (Ettor & nollor, Offside, Simon och Ekarna), Gabriela Pichler (Äta sova dö, Skrapsår).
