Gaming company development at Lindholmen Science Park

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Since December 2014, Visual Arena has had exciting guests in the form of The Game Incubator and Sweden Game Arena, both from Skövde. The Game Incubator is Sweden’s leading incubator in games and Sweden Game Arena is a project for positioning and node collaboration for international competitiveness in the gaming industry.

Sweden Game Arena is financed by Västra Götaland Region, as well as Skövde Municipality, University of Skövde and gaming companies at Gothia Science Park, Skövde. On location at Visual Arena, there are business developers from The Game Incubator and space for four representatives from companies participating in the incubator operation.

Today, companies here include Kanji Learning Labs, which develops the Doctor Professor software, a game for learning East-Asian languages through a unique combination of established pedagogics and game-based learning.

“At Lindholmen Science Park, we feel the gaming trend is exciting and it is important to contribute to the development of the incubator operation in the computer gaming industry for a larger geographic area,” says Mia Leterius, Program Manager for Visual Arena.

“Gothenburg has a fantastic gaming industry, which, with its breadth and depth, from such major international players as Ghost Games to our strong indie-game scene,” says Christian Riedl, Media Arena.

“Since 2012, we have focused on supporting and strengthening the players in different ways, and the fact that the Game Incubator and Sweden Game Arena are here is a huge step for us. We hope this trend will continue in the same way and that we will succeed in managing the talents and companies based here.

The gaming industry is an indicator for the entire ICT area, similar to the white-tailed eagles in nature, there are not too many of them but they are indicators of the condition of the biotope in its entirety.”

The investment in the incubator operation at Lindholmen Science Park and Gothenburg was positively received and an expansion of the locations is now being discussed for the autumn.
